2007 TOKYO AUTO SALON FEATURE From JDM-OPTION [Jan. 2007]

		The final evolution of a Supra that took its form from Smoky Nagata's desire to build a car his way, the only way. The 5 liter motor was mated with two HKS GT2540 turbos along with a custom surge tank plus two 80mm throttle bodies. The 42.7mm exhaust manifold and a full titanium muffler setup currently enabled 600 horsepower at this stage. Further tuning of the machine is scheduled to break the top speed barrier, and there is no doubt that records shall be set with this setup.

		An E-TS system from a GT-R (BNR32) was fabricated and installed to make up a 4WD Fairlady Z. The engine itself was fitted with JUN's custom kit for a final displacement of 3.8 liters. Furthermore, 272 degree camshafts (10.8mm lift) with strengthened valve springs, titanium retainers are just a small number of engine modifications just to name a few. Finally, a Trust TD05H twin turbo's were mounted; good for 800 horses. The vehicle was built to compete in the Supercar Challenge Series held in China.

		The Ryukyu Ijin Z33 was finished off with their rather flamboyant trademark pink. Some components used were HKS GT3037 turbo, pistons, connecting rods, Nismo crankshaft, camshafts, racing head assembly to make up an easy 500hp. Yashio Factory has also launched their “KAZ” brand body kits that go very well with their exhaust manifold and titanium mufflers. This machine is definitely capable of many aspects of motorsport including daily driving, the D1 Street Legal Series, and time attacks. Their concept is a vehicle where an average enthusiast can actually build.

		Although the beautiful paint and the European inspired body kit may point towards a VIP luxury dress up vehicle, looks can be very deceiving. This machine was built to compete in the D1 Street Legal series solely for drifting. A Blitz K5 660R turbo spins the engine to 500 horsepower and a Supra (JZA80) 6 speed transmission puts the power to the ground. This look may be the next big trend in drifting.

		The aero kit was specifically named “Top Fuel Tsukuba Special” and is constructed entirely of light weight dry carbon. A 2.2 liter displacement engine was bolted to a GT3240 turbine for a horsepower output of 650 hp. An OS triple plate clutch was also thrown into the HKS sequential transmission. The best time at Tsukuba so far is 56.740 seconds, and it is aims to be the fastest FR class machine.

		The engine in this naturally aspirated machine was constructed using Toda components to make up a displacement of 2.4 liters and 305 horsepower. This full race machine was switched over to a dry sump oil system because of the excessive lateral G's it is known for. Dry carbon doors and trunk were installed with an aerodynamic body kit for maximum downforce. Not only does this machine rip it up at Tsukuba, but at Suzuka where it had placed a 2 min 226 sec as the fastest N/A vehicle in Japan.

		The 180SX received a Fairlady Z (Z33) fascia transplant, and a Skyline (V35) rear. The exterior resembles that of a hybrid of the best sportscars that Nissan had manufactured. A Yashio Factory suspension along with a Vertex steering wheel are just a few in the suspension department. The vehicle was finished off with a rebuilt engine and fresh paint. Everything was roughly 2,800,000 yen after inspection, which is undoubtedly cheap compared to some cars out there. The vehicle is sure to be a head turner!

		A replica model of the CT230R sat in the showroom floor. The CT230R is a machine that broke numerous records all across the Japanese race courses. The machine sports 10 inch wide wheels all around, with 50mm over fenders. The engine has been lightly modified with basic intake exhaust components, and a boost increase via boost controller. HKS Hiper Max III Sport suspension and wheels were included for a total vehicle make up price of 5,985,000 yen.

		300 horsepower was born from this rotary after the peripherals were ported. The entire machine was constructed just for the Tsukuba time attack, nothing else. Rather stitch welding the traditional spots, only chosen areas were boxed and strengthened. Pan Speed used their knowledge from their many RX-7s (FD3S) that they have built in the past for the time attack. Their goal is to first dip into the 59 sec mark, and eventually to 58 seconds by the end of the year.

		The G-force body kit provided a super wide stance of 2 meters for this Vitz. The Vitz may look good enough with a lowered stance, but a wider look enhances the sporty feel of the vehicle. The 1.5 liter 1NZ-FE engine was outfitted with high compression pistons and individual throttle bodies for 169 horsepower. The final product was a machine that looks great and performs just as well.

		This Honda was outfitted entirely with J's Racing products off their shelves and on top of that, it was constructed to pass the Japanese vehicle regulations. The L15 engine was used as base, with a tsuchinoko intake chamber, and a 58mm big throttle body for a final power output of 142 horses. To fight the heat build up, a SPL aluminum radiator and a low temperature thermostat was also thrown in the mix. A J's Racing suspension kit, FF roll center adjusters, floor bar, pillow bars, monocoque bars add strength and performance to the chassis. This is a vehicle with total balance.

		This European model Swift Sports was used as a base chassis, and was converted to a sport compact style. The hood, spoilers, and the over fenders were all constructed of carbon fiber to greatly contribute to a sporty image. The interior was coordinated with slightly flamboyant red and black colors. Like the Spocom style, there were plenty of car audio and video inside the cockpit. It's such a rarity that a vehicle manufacturer will go this far to build a beautiful machine!

		This MR2 was constructed by the students of the Saitama Industrial Trade School, which its best feature sports a 4 door gullwinged super machine. The wheel base was also extended over 700mm, which contributes to an added rigidity when going straight line. The mid-ship qualities had to be sacrificed for this project however it's very impressive that young students can accomplish a spectacular project like this.

		The nostalgic Kenmeri Skyline was further enhanced with a chin spoiler, overfenders, and a rear wing. The enthusiasts in their 30's should appreciate this machine very much. The interior was lined with full alcantara cloth, not to mention the full restoration of the entire vehicle. The vehicle is simple, yet brings excitement to car lovers everywhere.

		This machine was inspired and built as a replica from the famous comic “Shakotan Buki”. The exterior and the coloring, as well as the “Californian mirror, all are an identical replica of the comic. The exterior can be easily reproduced however they didn't stop there. Just like the storyline, an RB26DETT beautifully graces the engine bay. The top speed of this machine was bumped up to 300 km/h, 11 seconds in the quarter mile, and should not be taken as a poseur.

		The vehicle's exterior may be deceiving because of its non-resemblance with any cars that are on the market today. The caved in doors, Enzo inspired nose, wide fenders is the final completion of their designer's image. An Alpine and Rockford Fosgate audio and video components are scattered inside the interior, accentuated with a futuristic cockpit design. The audio and video aren't just for looks, they perform with bass that can lift the roof off any building.

		This full race machine is made to be capable of competing in the professional race series. The VQ35HR engine was stroked 7mm in length to make up 3.8 liters in displacement. The pistons, connecting rods, and all other components were made exclusively for this machine. The body is a 2006 model which has increased aerodynamic capabilities, and significant weight has been shaved off the machine as a whole. Roll cage, bucket seats, fire extinguisher, and a 95 liter safety tank have all been installed for an MSRP of 26,250,000 yen!

		Fabulous designed the exterior not to disturb the graceful design Lexus has already included the vehicle with. The front lip spoiler flows with the entire vehicle and their 22 inch VARIOUS MB-5 line of wheels has a design where the lug nuts are blacked out. This kind of light customization keeps true to the manufacturer's design and Fabulous has done a great job keeping that trend.

		The gigantic Hummer H2 was painted with a blue metallic color scheme to stand out even more than its original form. The vehicle shined with plenty of sparkle on the showroom floor. As the years go by, the rims keep getting bigger and this year, they are up to 30 inches. The 8 spoke TIS07 wheels were strapped with Pirelli Scorpion Zero (315/30R30) tires. Big car and big rims, what more can you ask for?

		The exterior style was further intensified by adding a gullwing door system and 22 inch rims on this 300C. A plethora of monitors were mounted on the inside which seems to be the trend in this type of vehicle customization. It is made to look like a high-class celebrity whip, which makes anyone want to take it for a spin!
